Members,

Hope you are enjoying your summer so far – with our season half way through, we thought it would be a good time to refresh some of the rules so that we are all playing the same way.

Lost Balls:

Unless there is a specific local rule written on the course’s scorecard, we play lost balls as follows:

Ball in a hazard – marked by Yellow or Red stakes – Then the Standard Rules of Golf apply – One Stroke Penalty, drop at point of entryBall is lost in / outside of fairway and it is Un-Marked…   Then basically treated as Out-of-Bounds

  • Either: Return to spot of previous shot and hit again (stroke and distance) or:
  • For Speed-of-Play – We suggest using the 90 degree rule towards the Fairway and Play from here…   Penalty is 2 strokes (ie: Hitting 4th shot after drive)

Ball is lost with white stake markings – this is Out of Bounds; self explanatory, stroke and distance penalty.

Maximum score per hole:

Reminder that for speed of play, maximum score for any hole is Double Par + 1.  That means a 7 on a Par 3, a 9 on a Par 4 and a 11 on a Par 5.  If you reach this score, please pick up your ball and record that score.

Gimmes:

Gimme putts are ONE shoe length from the hole; please putt out if it is longer than this length.  Note:  During our Calcutta event coming up, there will be NO gimmes during this tournament.

Hope that helps – enjoy the round upcoming at The Hills at Portal and stay tuned for details on our annual Calcutta event!

Cheers,
